Exponents are how many times a number appears in an equation. 3²=9 is 3×3=9. There are many rules for exponents as well. This site will list most of them: Click Here Don't worry if you don't understand one or two. Some of the ones on that site are pretty hard to understand!

14^2+3 (^ is exponent sign) → add the exponents because the base is the same and exponents different
